It’s been less than a week since the introduction videos for the Japanese contestants on Mnet‘s upcoming girl group survival show, Girls Planet 999, were released, but a few are already attracting tons of attention. Here are the Japanese trainees with the most views on YouTube right now—along with why everyone is so interested in them.
5. Inaba Vivienne
22-year-old Vivienne has reached over 108,000 views on her Girls Planet 999 introduction video in the last six days. According to her official profile, Vivienne’s special skills are walking like a model and sleeping anywhere. She also loves listening to K-Pop, reading books, and watching movies. As for her personality, Vivienne’s MBTI type is ESTJ (the Executive).
Vivienne, who is said to be half-South African, revealed that she’s a model in her introduction video, wowing viewers with her unique visuals. After showing off part of her K-Pop album collection (which included Odd, Semicolon, and Time for the Moon Night), she’s also drawing in love from fellow fans of SHINee, SEVENTEEN, and GFRIEND.
4. Sakurai Miu
19-year-old Miu has reached over 134,000 views on her Girls Planet 999 introduction video in the last six days. According to her official profile, Miu’s special skills are playing the trumpet, making cookies, and baton twirling. She also loves collecting earrings, watching K-Dramas, and studying K-Pop music videos. As for her personality, Miu’s MBTI type is ESFP (the Entertainer).
This isn’t Sakurai Miu’s first survival show experience. In 2020, she became a contestant on Nizi Project—the show that formed JYP Entertainment‘s “K-Pop 3.0” Japanese girl group, NiziU. As such, she already has a growing fanbase behind her. Viewers were also impressed by Miu’s Korean skills in her introductory video, in which she explained her charms while making kimbap.
3. May (Cherry Bullet)
16-year-old May has reached over 157,000 views on her Girls Planet 999 introduction video in the last six days. According to her official profile, May’s special skill is eating deliciously. She also loves oil painting and drinking coffee. As for her personality, May’s MBTI type is ISFJ (the Defender).
Given that May is already a member of FNC Entertainment‘s up-and-coming 2019 girl group, Cherry Bullet, it’s no surprise everyone is curious to see what she’ll bring to the show. May is the lead dancer, visual, and maknae of the group, and her talents and charms came across perfectly in her princess-themed introduction video.
2. Sakamoto Mashiro
21-year-old Mashiro has reached over 160,000 views on her Girls Planet 999 introduction video in the last six days. According to her official profile, Mashiro’s special skills are dancing, cooking, and staying still without thinking or doing anything. She also loves walking and playing with her cat. As for her personality, Mashiro’s MBTI type is INFP (the Mediator).
One reason why Sakamoto Mashiro is attracting so much attention is that she used to be a trainee under JYP Entertainment. In fact, she was once one of the most popular and promising trainees, known for her powerful dancing abilities and stage presence—both of which helped her place second in the company’s 12th Annual Audition. Fans were disappointed when she left JYP Entertainment in 2018 after training alongside Somi and ITZY, but now they’re excited she’s getting a second chance. In her introduction video, she also proved her singing is just as good as her dancing.
1. Ezaki Hikaru
At the top of the list, 17-year-old Ezaki Hikaru has reached over 199,000 views on her Girls Planet 999 introduction video in the last six days. According to her official profile, Hikaru’s special skills are eating deliciously and rapping. She also loves relaxing in the hot springs. As for her personality, Hikaru’s MBTI type is ESFJ (the Consul).
From the start of her introductory video, Ezaki Hikaru’s ability to talk surprisingly fast in Korean is an indication of her impressive skills. Viewers loved her cover of 2NE1 CL’s “Hello B*tches,” and she even introduced herself with a rap. On top of that, she also attracted attention when she was chosen as the center for Girls Planet 999‘s J Group center. That aside, some also know her as a member of the J-Pop duo +GANG.
